Fortum, Rusnano to construct 600 MW of wind farms in Rostov Region
MOSCOW, Dec 4 (PRIME) -- Managing company Vetroenergetika, controlled by power producer Fortum and state-owned nanotechnology company Rusnano, intends to construct 600 megawatt (MW) of wind power plants in Russia’s southern Rostov Region in 2019-2022, the regional government said late on December 1.
Alisher Kalanov, the chairman of Vetroenergetika’s board, said that the region is among Russia’s key territories in terms of production of both wind power and wind turbine components.
There is a incentive program for new renewable facilities in Russia, which envisages tenders to choose the most viable projects. The program also implies that part of equipment for the projects must be produced domestically.
In November, Vestas Wind Systems and Fortum Energy signed a framework agreement to set up a wind turbine plant in the Rostov Region.
